Google Maps | Beyond the Map, Rio de Janeiro

As Executive Producer, I traveled to Rio de Janeiro as we captured the stories along with an external partner. We filmed 6 short documentaries, delivered the entire project in both English and Portuguese, created an interactive dynamic website and delivered multiple cutdowns, social media content and to promote our project Google put out a 2 page spread in the New York Times magazine. The documentary series won several awards and received many positive news stories in Brazil.

Beyond the Map takes you deep into the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. This documentary series—shot largely in VR—gives viewers a glimpse into the rich, complex lives within Brazil’s oft-overlooked neighborhoods. Along the way, we are immersed in the stories of extraordinary individuals whose grit, creativity, and spirit are the lifeblood of Brazil.
